Darrell Wilson, age 89, of Wheaton, IL, formerly of Addison, IL. Beloved husband of the late Fern Sophia; loving father of Bradley and Rhonda (Peter) Russo; cherished grandfather of Michael Russo and Lauren (Mason) Manint; proud great-grandfather of Nora and Henry Manint; dear brother of the late Delbert (Neva) Wilson and the late Donald (the late Dona) Wilson; brother-in-law of Merle (the late Shirley) Goeke, Clifford (Carol) Goeke, and the late Neva (Gary) Altenbernd and cousin of Karen (Dave) Cox and Ronnie Lestikow. He was also the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Darrell was born and raised in a small farming town in Northern Illinois. After serving in the Air Force, he married Fern Goeke with whom he spent 59 years together before her passing in 2019. They moved to Chicago for Darrell to pursue his career as an airline mechanic for TWA and to raise their family. Darrell will be remembered for many things including his knack for fixing all things mechanical; for volunteering at his church; and his love for telling stories.
Visitation Friday, April 11, 2025, 4 – 8 p.m. at Elmhurst Community Funeral Home – THE AHLGRIM CHAPEL, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst, IL, and at Bethel United Church of Christ, 315 E. St. Charles Rd., Elmhurst, IL from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service, 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025. Interment Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
