Darryl J. Costello

Darryl J. Costello of Mahopac, NY died unexpectedly on December 8, 2022 at the age of 52. He was born in New York City on December 18, 1969, son of Richard and Francene (neé Conroy) Costello.
Darryl was a hard worker his entire life; a simple man with many talents. He worked as a Yard Manager for Mike's Blue Wheels in Mahopac for over 30 years. Darryl was a writer and published the children's book "Christmas Star", and has three additional books in the hands of the publisher.
He enjoyed chainsaw wood carving and made several beautiful bears, each over 4' tall. He was loved by so many, always looking to make a difference or pay it forward. Darryl also enjoyed boating and jet skiing in Lake Mahopac, tools of all types, sizes, and purposes, making updates to his home, and helping friends, family and strangers when the opportunities arose.
Darryl is survived by his mother Francene, his siblings Chris and his significant other Linda Meunier, Jeanene Marano and her significant other John Cowan, and Trude Demers and her husband Michael; and his nieces and nephews, whom he adored with plenty of laughs and cherished memories.
All are welcome to attend a visitation on Friday, December 16th from 4-8 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 17th at 10AM at St. John The Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
