Helena M. Sinnott

Helena M. Sinnott of Carmel, NY formerly of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the age of 81. She was born in Manhattan on January 14, 1944, the daughter of Wayne and Evelyn (Juliano) Clark.

Helena was in retail for most of her working life and spent the most time at York Stationary. She owned the business for several years; after she closed it, she worked at Lester's, a children's clothing store in Manhattan. She enjoyed helping expectant mothers choose their layette items and was such a successful salesperson that she won a trip to Walt Disney World. She was a member of the Carmel-Mahopac Seniors who meet on Wednesdays at the Mahopac Fire Department. She enjoyed going to casinos to play the slots, playing bingo and pokeno. Helena was a great cook and loved spending time with her family and friends and cooking a great meal for them.

On July 30, 1961 she married John Sinnott at St. Stephen of Hungary Church in Manhattan. In addition to John, she is survived by her daughters, Janice Rivera and partner, Ralph Capilupi of Valhalla, NY, Evelyn Vazquez and partner, Adam Title of Manhattan, Ann Marie Gennardo and husband, Joseph of Lynbrook, NY, and son, John and wife, Leonora of Chestnut Ridge, NY; her sisters, Evelyn Lovastik and Mary Alice McIntyre and her 6 beloved grandchildren, Alex and Philip Vazquez, Jason and Gabriela Rivera and Michael and Daniel Gennardo. Additionally, her grandpup, Domino. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and George Clark.

Visiting will be held on Monday, September 8 from 1-3 pm & 5-7 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 9 at 10 am at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel. Following private cremation, entombment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Putnam Valley at a later date.
