Darryl Quentin Lightner

July 22, 1962-August 18, 2024

Darryl Quentin Lightner, affectionately called "Boobie", grew up in Baltimore, Maryland with his mother and six siblings. Darryl was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Lightner, his brothers Gary, Gregory, and Larry; his sister, Deborah (Lightner) Braxton and her husband Gilbert Braxton. He is survived by two brothers, Anthony "Tootie" Lightner and his wife Cynthia of San Antonio, Texas and William "Nay" Lightner of Baltimore, Maryland.

Darryl is also survived by his two sons, Quentin Lightner of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania and Darryl Lightner "DJ" of Whitehall, Pennsylvania. Step childen: Kimitria and her companion Christopher of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Darvin and his wife Sara of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Dimairis and her husband Bob of Harleysville, Pennsylvania. Grandchildren and step grandchildren: Quentin, Trinity, Dariuz, Annabelle, Brycen, Deron and Jeniah.

Darryl loved all his family and they loved him. That includes a host of cousins, nephews, neices, in-laws, and close friends, who were like his family, as well as those who departed before him.

He was formerly employed by ETI freight company of Allentown, Pennsylvania and was later self-employed as a caregiver and mentor for Mrs.Jane Escudero and her son, Willie, of Emmaus, Pennsylvania.

Darryl was introduced to Jehovah at an early age by his mother, who was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for many decades. Darryl dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was baptized on October 6, 2007. He was a member in the Emmaus congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Macungie. He loved contributing to the joy of the congregation and doing what he could to help and comfort others in the congregation. Darryl married the love of his life, LaTressa (Atwood) Lightner of Bethlehem, on August 28, 2010. He often stated that LaTressa was exactly what he prayed for in a wife and LaTressa felt the same way about Darryl. Also, how he was the answer to his mother's prayer. Sh
e prayed that she would live to see at least one of her children dedicate their life to Jehovah God and get baptized. Happily she lived to see Darryl get baptized and become one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Darryl will be remembered for his sense of humor, for loving to eat good food (yes, he was definitely a "foodie"), for his impeccable style of dress, and for being a hard worker, (he never cut corners). He loved bike riding, traveling, and entertaining others by singing and dancing. Darryl wouldn't just sing, he would perform! He loved visiting the sick and those who were mourning the loss of a loved one. He would provide comfort to them through a gentle embrace and a heartfelt prayer and his strong conviction in God's Word, as well as giving material support. He loved talking to others about the Bible's promises and its practical advice. It was a pleasure to hear him speak about Bible truths to others in the door to door ministry and when telephone witnessing.

Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Darryl, to spend time with him, even for a few minutes, will not forget him. He is loved and missed by us all.

The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to everyone who had, and everyone who will have a share in bringing comfort and support to them. Thank you.

I'm looking forward to singing duets with my brother, friend, and stepfather, in paradise. I am extremely grateful that Darryl cherished mom and took great care of her, thanks to our God, Jehovah! Their happiness made my family happy. We love you mom!

Fast as Lightner I mean "Lightning". I remember when we're young, full power and strength-laughing and just enjoying each other as children. It was nice. Look forward to seeing him again in PARADISE!!!

As I was saying, I was praying to Jehovah about his well being. To my most pleasant SURPRISE, I heard someone calling my name during lunch. It was Darryl!!!! He looked sooo good, I had NEVER seen him so pure and fresh.

He told me he was getting baptized. I did NOT believe him. But, sure enough he DID.
