Matthew G. Zellner, 85, of Macungie, passed away on November 23, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Marjorie L. (Jezick) Zellner for 61 years. Born in Slatington on December 19, 1938, Matt was the son of the late Gordon and Mary (Andrews) Zellner. Matt was affectionately known as "Hess" to his family and was an avid lover of polka music. Matt was a member of St. Thomas Moore Church, Allentown.
Matt graduated valedictorian from Slatington High School in 1956. He went on to attend Lehigh University, from which he graduated magna cum laude and received a B.S., M.S. and ultimately a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1970. Matt worked for Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. for 23 years, and thereafter, Carpenter Technology Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation. He was a member and fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Survivors: Wife; Sons, Eric of Churchville and Todd of Pawleys Island, SC; Daughter, Karla of Zionsville; Sisters, Madeline Ahner and Marianne Buzinski of Slatington; and loving cat, Princess.
In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Amy.
Services: Graveside, private.

I remember fly fishing with Matt at our boss's (Carol Claitor) club in the Poconos. Matt and I stayed over-night in the cabin with Carol and one of his friends, and always got up early to get to the best fishing pools.
