Darwin Paul Schartz, 63, passed away September 14, 2024, at his home in Hoisington, Kansas. He was born on July 3, 1961, in Great Bend, to Arlin and Ila (Seitzenger) Schartz.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Darwin was a 1980 graduate from Great Bend High School. He worked as a farm hand for Schnieder Alfalfa. Darwin was a quiet and simple man, who was a jack of all trades and liked tinkering on vehicles.
Survivors include siblings, Gerry Schartz (Sissy) of Great Bend, Larry Schartz (Joella) of Great Bend, Tanya Schroeder (Leonard) of Great Bend, Steven Schartz (Lisa) of Lakeland, Florida, Kala Muller of Ellinwood, Kent Schartz of Great Bend, and Darryl Schartz of Great Bend; nephews, Rusty Purcell, Eppie Sandoval, Derek Muller; niece, Jessica Manning (Jared); great nephews, Johnny Ayling, Arlin and Gavin Schartz; great nieces, Zoey and Oaklynn Manning; and sister-in-law, Brenda Schartz.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Terry Schartz.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Father Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Memorials have been designated to Darwin Schartz Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
