DARWIN NEAL WINTER, age 71, of Lake Crystal passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Born on July 21, 1953, in Morris, Minnesota, Darwin was the son of Clarence and Arllette (Stahldorf) Winter. He graduated from Janesville High School and began his career driving truck for various companies, a job he held until health challenges made it impossible to continue.
On April 3, 1977, Darwin was united in marriage to Penny Bollman in St. Clair. Together, they had three children: Sam, Lucas, and Sara. Darwin’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. His love for them, along with his kind heart, will never be forgotten.
In his free time, Darwin enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing, and made annual trips to the lake in Alexandria. He also enjoyed playing poker and cherished the bonds he shared with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Darwin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Penny Winter of Lake Crystal; children, Sam (Traci) Winter of Fargo, Lucas Winter of Lake Crystal, Sara (Dustin) Dauer of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Elena, Damon, Quinn, Venna, Josie; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Dave Winter and Doug Winter.
Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Janesville United Methodist Church in Janesville. Burial will take place at Medo-McPherson Cemetery in Beauford.
