Daryl Victor Campbell, lovingly known as "Pa" to his grandsons, passed away surrounded by those he loved on August 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He was 71 years old and loved God.
Born on June 11, 1954, Daryl dedicated his life to building both homes and lasting relationships. A respected homebuilder, landlord and the former president of the Central Oklahoma Homebuilder's Association; he left a mark not only on the community he served but also on the countless lives he touched.
Daryl worked in many roles throughout his lifetime, each one shaping and strengthening his passion for homebuilding. Alongside that, he carried a deep love for collecting and for the art of the deal. Whether it was watches (with Rolex being his favorite), guitars, knives, guns, hats, t-shirts, golf balls, cigars, thimbles, or shot glasses, he was always on the lookout during our many travels. If you wanted something added to his list, all you had to do was ask. Daryl thrived on negotiation-nothing delighted him more than saving a dollar and turning it into two.
A true people person, he could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He never met a stranger. His words often came in the form of song lyrics, leaving others grinning-or sometimes scratching their heads-wondering what he meant. But for Daryl, music was a language that carried him through every moment.
He carried a lifelong love for the Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Saturdays in the fall were reserved for Sooner football, and during basketball season he seldom missed a Thunder game – often cheering them on in person. He embraced the victories wholeheartedly, while the defeats were taken a bit harder.
Those who knew him will remember his integrity, his unwavering devotion to family, and the playful, goofy nature that made him unforgettable.
He is survived by his wife Nita of 42 years, son, Wes and wife Michelle, brothers, Randy and wife Carolyn, Craig aka Smiley, Jeff and wife Wendy, sister Kathy Lucas, and grandsons Zackary and Caleb. Many loving nieces and nephews as well the greats and other family members. His presence, guidance and undeniable love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Daryl is predeceased by his parents Doyle Victor and Jewell Campbell and his beloved son, David Victor.
A reception will begin at 12:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed.
