Daryl Lee Van Woert

Daryl Lee Van Woert, age 78, of Corning, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Robert Packer Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1946 in Corning, the son of the late Clifford and Marion (Hemley) Van Woert. He married Christine Lewis on June 8, 1968. She predeceased him on January 1, 2021.
Daryl was a loving father and grandfather and he took pride in his relationships with family and friends. He enjoyed meeting new people, liked to tinker and he could fix almost anything. Daryl was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from World Kitchen and Corning, Inc.
He is survived by sons, Scott Van Woert of Corning and Brett (Heidi) Van Woert of Corning, grandchildren: Brittany, Scottie, Blake and Jack Van Woert; sisters, Denise (Chub) Kilburn of Big Flats and Carolyn (Bill) Drake of Connecticut, and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A celebration of Daryl's life will take place there at 12:00 noon. The burial of both Daryl and Christine's cremains will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Full military honors for Daryl will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Corning American Legion or one's local SPCA or animal shelter.
