Daryle Bartney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Boyd Family Funeral Home on Nov. 13, 2025.
Daryle K. Bartney, Sr. departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 63. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 4, 1962, to the late Elray and Joyce Scie Bartney. He was the devoted husband and best friend of 44 years to Kim M. Bartney, and the loving father of Daryle K. Bartney, Jr. and Brandy Bartney. Daryle was a proud product of the Orleans Parish School System and graduated from Walter L. Cohen Senior High School in 1981, where he was a member of the Varsity Football and Track Team. Daryle gave his life to the Lord and lived as a man of faith. He showed daily the characteristics of a Christian: he loved and served others with kindness, strength, and humility. In his younger years, Daryle was employed with the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Department and later became a truck driver. At the time of his passing, he was employed as a Captain of Transportation in the entertainment industry. Daryle loved fishing and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was truly a "jack of all trades" and earned the nickname MacGyver for his resourceful and inventive ability to solve any problem. If something needed to be done, Daryle was the person everyone called. Daryle is preceded in death by his parents, Elray and Joyce Scie Bartney, and his sibling, Elray Bartney, II. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Kim Bartney; his son, Daryle K. Bartney, Jr.; his daughter, Brandy Bartney; his five grandchildren, Kyla Wright, Daryle III, Darione, Daniel Bartney, and Junior Short; three godchildren, Anthony Cola Jr., Tahj Bartney, and Tanesia (Larry) Gilyard of Waukee, Iowa; five siblings, Renee B. Gray, Treva B. Cola (Anthony), Elray Z. Bartney, Jr. (Tayisa), Monique B. Knox (Melvin), and Darnell A. Bartney; his mother in-law, Elaine Joseph; his brother-in-love, Fred Menville Jr. (Gail); his traveling companions and dear friends, Bobby and Carla James; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 15, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries, 4400 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70115. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Evangelist Melanie Pichon, officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave, New Orleans, LA 70122. To the Bartney family our hearts are broken, we will miss seeing Mr D, as I called him, sitting in his chair or backing up in his truck. Mrs. Kim stand strong. From James and Pamela Brown (3720).
