Martina Major Williams

Martina Major Williams, age 82 of New Orleans, LA passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA. Martina was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Cleveland L. Williams Sr., her parents, Edgar and Betty Major, and her sister Catherine B. Brown. She was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School and a graduate of Southern University and A&M College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, Master's in Education, and a + 30. She was a teacher with the Assumption Parish School Board in Napoleonville, LA. She leaves to mourn her cherished memories, her daughters, Dwan W. Ventresca (Dean Ventresca), Chandra W. Buxton (James Buxton), her sons, Cleveland L. Williams Jr., Shawn D. Williams, Rev. Tremayne G. Williams, Brandon G. Williams, Bevin C. Williams, and a bonus son Craig M. Nicholas. Two sisters-in-law, Carrie Mae Jackson and Mary Dell Oates; forty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, a godchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and the devoted congregation of Fifth African Baptist Church. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday December 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Fifth African Baptist Church, 3419 South Robertson Street, New Orleans, La. 70115.
