Verna Mae Brown Passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 87. A native of New Orleans, she attended Joseph S. Clark High School. Verna is survived by son Byron Brown, daughters; Trina Simmons (Christopher), Darlene Johnson (Shawn), twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and a special niece Cherlyn Ruffin. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by the love of her life Antoine Gibson of 41 years, her parents Lawrence Brown Sr., and Annabell Anderson, four siblings: Lawrence Jr, Manuel, Leontine Brown and Yvonne Thomas, a bonus sister Joyce Douglas, two daughters; Patricia and Julie Brown, one son Lawrence Polk, and one granddaughter Keiaira Taylor. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, February 7, 2026, for 10:00 a.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70126. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Samuel Travis Jr, officiating. Interment will follow at Merrick Cemetery, 7405 E St. Bernard Hwy., Violet LA 70092.
