Dava Jean Olson was born on May 29, 1951, in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Leroy and Leony (Larson) Olson. As a young girl, she moved with her family from Callaway, Minnesota to Fosston. She graduated from Fosston High School in 1970.Dava was united in marriage to LeRoy Hruby on August 11, 1973, at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston. After their marriage, they made their home in Oklee, Minnesota. Dava stayed at home caring for their children and home until 1986. At that time, she got her CNA license. Later, she attended Northland Community College where she attained her degree and LPN license. She worked at McIntosh Manor and other care facilities for many years until health issues forced her to retire. Dava and LeRoy divorced but remained very good life-long friends. Dava spent the majority of her life living in Fosston.
Dava was a member of Bethel Assembly Church and took an active role in getting not only her own children to church activities but she filled up the station wagon with others on the way. She volunteered with Brownies and was a teacher for Missionette’s at Bethel. Dava really enjoyed helping others. She would give to others before thinking of herself even if it meant less for her. She will be remembered as a giving, caring person.
When she did take time for herself, she enjoyed gardening, cleaning, baking (but not cooking), and, most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved any family get-togethers. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her mother, Leoney Olson of Fosston; four children, Jamie Hruby of Fosston, Julie Hruby of Fargo, ND, April Hruby (Teddy Thaden) of Dexter, MN, and Matthew Hruby of Fosston; grandchildren, Derrick Hruby, Justin Hruby, Jenna Hruby, Avery Hruby, Asiah Thaden, Mahaylia Thaden, Jasper Thaden, Tayadora Thaden, Memphis Thaden, Areanna Hruby, Maysen Hruby, and Keegan Hruby; great grandchildren, Kinsley, Ryder, Paisley, and Tyrel.
Also surviving are siblings, David (Sandra) of Gully, MN Robert of Fosston, Richard (Betty) of Denver, CO, Jeff of Fosston, Patty (John) of Ada, MN, and Holly (Chad) Thorssen of Gully, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father; and husband, LeRoy.
