Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Dave was born on February 2, 1956, to Robert "Bob" and Delores (Bonnet) Jung in Aberdeen. He grew up and attended school in Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School in 1974.
On August 21, 1976, Dave was united in marriage to Deb Dumire in Aberdeen, starting their life together centered on raising their family.
Dave worked at HC Clark/Titan Machinery as a salesman for many years before deciding to quit and enjoy his passions-camping and fishing along the Missouri River. Mobridge and the river held special childhood memories for Dave, especially time spent there with his father. After the births of their daughters, Kari in 1978 and Kelli in 1981, Dave continued those traditions, creating lasting family memories while camping and fishing at Indian Creek Campground near Mobridge.
Dave gained two sons when Kari married Will Brown and Kelli married Ryan Bretsch. He loved his sons-in-law as dearly as his daughters.
With the arrival of grandsons Harper in 2012, Hudson in 2015, and Harrison in 2018, Dave proudly took on his most cherished role-Grandpa. His grandsons were his pride and joy, and nothing made him happier than taking them fishing. In addition to teaching his grandsons how to fish, Dave loved simply spending time with them. He taught Harper how to build things; together they built a deck and a bench last summer, time they both treasured. Dave was a devoted Hub City Soccer fan, cheering Hudson on from the sidelines whenever possible and always waiting eagerly for the "post-game report" when he couldn't attend. With Harrison, Dave loved snuggling, being goofy, and sharing plenty of laughter.
Dave especially enjoyed camping and fishing alongside his wife, Deb. He was thoughtful enough to steer the boat over the fish on her side-just to make sure she out-fished him. Together, they loved traveling and spending time with family. Dave also cherished their four dogs: Skipper, Jake, Marlie, and most recently, Lottie, his constant lap warmer and loyal companion.
Dave bowled in a league for many years and most enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling with good friends. He also loved playing cards, particularly Blitz, with family, especially his grandsons.
Dave took pride in helping others and enjoyed getting to know his neighbors, often lending a hand by using his bobcat to clear their driveways.
Grateful for having shared Dave's life are his wife, Deb; daughters Kari (Will) Brown and Kelli (Ryan) Bretsch; grandsons Harper, Hudson, and Harrison Bretsch; his mother, Delores Jung; siblings Donna (Bill) Papke, Diane Clausen, Daryl (Anita) Jung, Carol (Dennis) Leicht, Rick (Darla) Jung, Vickie (Randy) Rempher, Tim (Deb) Jung, Tammy (Sean) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Monica and Lenny Tietz, Heather and Blair Smith, and their children, Morgan, Evan, and Logan.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bob" Jung; nieces Jessica and Roberta Clausen; and his father-in-law, Clint Dumire.
Dave's family requests casual, fishing, or Minnesota Vikings attire.
