David Dean McDonald was born November 4, 1966 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Wilford "LeRoy" McDonald and Gladys Charlton (Moody). He grew up alongside 10 siblings in Colo, Iowa before moving to Marshalltown. In his later years he attended Marshalltown High School.
David was a hardworking man. He raised six children, Sondra, Jarrod, Kristina, Katie, Abbie, and Haley in addition to taking on the father role two additional whom he called his own, Shanda and Eric. Dave constantly showed compassion and kindness to all at every point in his life never knowing a stranger. He was one to be very trusting of anybody regardless if they had done right or wrong to him in any circumstance. He would go as far to give the shirt off his back if that is what things came down to. His family was of the utmost importance in his life, spending as much time as possible with them including his grandchildren. He always looked forward to the 4th of July when he would host his family at the farm for a large get together complete with fireworks to end the evening. He enjoyed being outdoors in his free time whether that was just simply being outside, going camping, or taking rides on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle with his son Jarrod. On his fun side, he was known to partake in karaoke and have a good time. Dave had a soft spot for animals and loved his dog Nugget.
