David John "Dave" Warner, age 87, passed away early Friday, December 13, 2024 at his home in Bristol Village, Waverly, Ohio. He was born August 23, 1937 in Rutland to the late Earl "Jack" and Rachel (Rees) Warner.
He was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Ohio University and the Ohio State University. He was an accomplished athlete and well-known musician during his high school, college days and later in life. In 1954 he was honored by the Columbus JC's for being the Chic Harley Memorial award winner (football). He was a veteran of the Army 82nd Airborne. Dave was an Ohio State Highway Patrolman and honored several times as their outstanding patrolman in his district. He was an investigator for different agencies, served as an adjuster for several companies in Ohio and Michigan as well as being involved as a member of several church choirs and numerous theater organizations/productions. Dave was a co-founder (along with his wife, Frances) of Apple City Players, performed with the Actors Guild of Parkersburg, River City Players, Riverby Theatre Guild, Defiance Players and the Rio Grande Choral.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Frances, sons, Thomas (Diane) Warner, Timothy (Jill) Warner, and daughter, Ginny Lou (Chris) King, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sisters-in-law, Vici Warner and Dee Warner, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by wife, Sara Jane Jones (45 years), twin brother Dallas and older brother Rodney.
Per his wishes, he was cremated. In the spring a memorial will be held at his farm in Meigs County, Ohio. His nurses from National Church Residences were awesome with their care for him.
