On November 26, 2021, at the age of 65, David Allen Chantry's mother came to take him home to his Heavenly Father. Dave was born on a sunny day, in Bitburg Germany, April 20, 1956, to Donald and Sally Chantry. Since his father was in the military, they moved frequently. As a child, Dave lived in South Dakota, Mississippi and California. Dave was a hard worker, and he took his education seriously. In fact, as a junior, he was able to graduate Chaffey High School, in Ontario, California, before enrolling in an auto body course at Chaffey College. In 1975, he met his wife of 45 years, Theresa Bubash, in Ontario California, at a church dance; it was love at first sight! Following Dave's mission to England, they were sealed in the Los Angeles temple on August 13th, 1976. Dave and Tree moved to Utah, Thanksgiving weekend, 1980, not knowing what would lie ahead - that in exactly 41 years, to the day, Dave would say goodbye to the place he called home. He became interested in commercial glass early in his life; he worked hard to get his journeyman license and he later started up his own glass company, Granite Glass. Providing for his family was very important to him; he was always busy working, doing projects on the side, and providing service to others. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some of the fondest memories of Dave are when he was decorating or cooking for ward functions or for the annual family reunion, which he loved to do. A family reunion wasn't complete without "Dave's famous ribs!" He also enjoyed family campouts while his children were young. A fond memory was sitting around the campfire while dad accompanied the family on his guitar while singing songs from artists such as the Beatles, John Denver, and Bread.
Dave is preceded in death, by his mother, whom he dearly missed, since her passing 30 years ago. He is survived by his wife, his father, his two brothers, Donald and Douglas, and his favorite sister, Deborah, as well as his five children, Diane (Erik) Stromberg, Stephen Chantry, Heather (Layne) Hansen, Lori (Brian) Anderson, and Jonathan Chantry. Dave has 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dave's passing was an ending to a very long and grueling chapter of his life. He had been sick for many years and his family is grateful that he is finally able to rest, free from pain and all mortal struggles. His angel wife, Theresa, as a faithful and dedicated caregiver, shared his burden of health. She put his needs before her own and was by his side from the very beginning till his final breath! The family would like to thank those who have expressed love, concern, and who have offered service to Theresa through the years.
Services will be held at Myers Mortuary, in Roy, Utah, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 am with a viewing, 6:30-8:30 pm on December 3rd, and 9:30-10:45 am, on December 4th, at the same location. Funeral services will be live streamed.
Following funeral services, Dave will be laid to rest at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
