David Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Oct. 30, 2024.
David C. Anderson, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Arborview Court in Wisconsin Rapids.
David was born February 12, 1937 in Winona, Minnesota to Howard and Helen (Reimer) Anderson. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Rezin, and together they had four children. Their marriage ended in divorce.
David spent the majority of his career as a Shipping Supervisor at the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company-Port Edwards Mill. His hardworking spirit and dedication were evident in every task he undertook. His skills extended beyond his professional life into his personal passions. A skilled carpenter, David cleared his own land and built his own house, a testament to his tenacity and craftsmanship. His love for wood didn't stop at building; he also enjoyed cutting, planning, and woodworking. The smell of freshly cut timber and the feel of a well-crafted piece were joys that never left him.
David's zest for life was infectious. His love for camping and traveling took him all over the world and across the western United States, visiting numerous national and state parks. The Caribbean also called to him, and he took many cruises, relishing the salty sea air and the rhythm of the waves. He was a regular attendee at auto races and tractor pulls, his enthusiasm for the roar of engines and the thrill of competition never waning. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." David lived well, indeed.
David is survived by three children: Michael Anderson, William Anderson, and Susan Anderson; seven grandchildren: Zon, Kara, Krista, Casey, Evan, Kyla, and Coral; and two great-grandchildren: Brynna and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sally Ebel; daughter Vicki Poplin; and son-in-law Kevin Anderson.
In accordance with David's wishes, no public service or visitation will be held.
