David Anderson Sr. Obituary David Hromada Anderson Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community, peacefully passed away on February 21, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on February 9, 1940, in Minneapolis to Roger and Anne Anderson, Dave was a man of many accomplishments and passions throughout his life.
Dave was a proud resident of Wayzata and had a long and successful business career. He was the founder and owner of Decorators Service Co. and Anderson Services and worked at both until his passing. His leadership also extended to many industry organizations and vocational schools, including the PDCA of Minnesota and the Minnesota Painters and Wallpaper Employers Association. As well as, teaching his trade at vocational schools and apprenticeship programs. He was a graduate of Wayzata High School, class of 1958, and a dedicated United States Navy veteran, serving from 1959 to 1963 serving on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La.
Known for his pioneering spirit, Dave, also known as Papa, was the visionary behind 'The Farm', a cabin property where so many memories were made with family and friends. Some of which were hunting, riding motorcycle and 4 wheelers, endless golfcart rides, and helping him with his seemingly endless list of projects. Dave had a real knack for storytelling around the campfire (always with a burn permit). He was also known for his humor and one-liners of wisdom that usually came when you least expected them.
His passions and interests were many and varied: from amateur prospecting to flying aircraft as a private pilot, including logging hours on the Goodyear blimp. An avid outdoor sportsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout North America and Mexico, and he found thrills as a flat track and scramble motorcycle racer and the co-founder of the Competition Cycles motorcycle racing team.
Dave was a revered member of the Old West Society of Minnesota and The Palisade Mountain Men, where he was affectionately known as Palisade Jack. His membership in the Heritage Arms Society further showcased his passion for firearms and the old west. He was an avid marksman and won the "dead-eye" trophy on more than one occasion.
Family was paramount to Dave, and he deeply cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Daryl and Myron (Sandy). He is survived by his loving wife and adventure partner of 54 years, Priscilla, his children and their spouses, David Jr. (Krista), Nick (Jill), Nathan, Adam (Kim), and Annalise Mangan (Buck); grandchildren Ashley Meyer(Jimmy), Keith, Madeline Rice (Brandon), Deatrick (Maria), Jane, Owen, Fletcher, Jordan, Elin, Willow and Kaia and great-grandchildren Shay, Ashton, Collins, Carson and Campbell.
Additionally survived and missed by brothers Justin (Jill), Joel (Kris), Marlo and sister Suzanne Martineau (Brian), sister-in-law Sue, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, tradesman, business colleagues and cowboys near and far.
