David Herman Anenson, born June 21, 1940, in Webster, SD, to Louis and Emma Anenson, passed away on August 28, 2024, in North Richland Hills, TX, at the age of 84.

David's journey through life was marked by devotion to family, faith, and a passion for his work. He married Judith Kasin on June 30, 1962, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Wallace, SD. Together, they raised two children, Noelle and Leif. David’s dedication to his family extended to his role as a loving father and grandfather. He took immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, sharing his love for woodworking, life skills, and the occasional stop for donuts.

David had a distinguished career spanning 39 years with Stone Container as a specialist in packaging machinery, he also did 3 years in the Marine Corps after high school, later contributing his expertise to Garland Pipe Organ Company. His professional achievements were complemented by his active involvement in his church communities. He was a valued member of Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, WI, and Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst, TX where he participated in choir, church projects, and various improvements. David was a board member and elder of Peace Lutheran.

An enthusiastic sportsman, David enjoyed golfing, fishing retreats, racquetball, and swimming. His Norwegian heritage was a source of pride, and he lovingly passed on traditions such as making lefse to his grandchildren. His engineering skills were evident in his work and in his hobbies, and he was always recognized by his engineer cap, pliers in his pocket, and his distinctive yellow truck.

David’s warm spirit, love of laughter, and his 3:30 coffee dates with Judy were hallmarks of his character. Together David and Judy enjoyed the orchestra at Bass Hall, Plays at the Artisan and their grandchildren’s concerts. He will be remembered fondly for his positive outlook, his ability to brighten any room with a smile, and his unwavering support for those he loved. His niece recalls him as “the man who could do anything with a big smile for everyone.”

David is survived by his wife Judith, daughter Noelle (Ed) Gresh, grandchildren Emma (Cipriano) Rivera, Noah Gresh, and Kevin Gresh, and sister Ladonna Merritt.

He was predeceased by his son Leif Anenson and brother LeRoy Anenson.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst, TX, Saturday September 7th at 11:00 AM.

David Herman Anenson will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
