David Ard Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
David Rex Ard of Salem, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Born on July 1, 1952, in Doss, Missouri, to the late Rex Ard and Penny Steelman, David grew up in Dent County, where he cherished time with his brothers-whether fishing, floating the Current River, or simply enjoying one another's company. These bonds remained strong throughout his life.

In 1972, David married his devoted wife, Susie, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years. Together they raised two children, Davy and Whitney. David was a proud father who delighted in watching his children grow into the people they are today.

A true outdoorsman, David found joy in hunting, camping, and exploring the Colorado mountains. He especially loved float trips down the river with family and quiet evenings under the stars with Susie. Alongside his love for hunting and fishing, David enjoyed running dogs and later served as Treasurer and then Vice President of the Dent County Fox Hunters Association, participating in hunts across the region.

Known for his generous spirit, David was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, he treasured his role as "Grandpa," embracing the love of six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Penny; his brothers, Ricky and Tommy; and his loyal companion, his dog Pedro. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susie; his children, Davy (Amanda) Ard and Whitney (Scott) Wofford; grandchildren Stefanny (Tony) Lopez, Mikael Ard, Riley Ard, Serenity Wofford, Cale Wofford, and Rhys Wofford; and great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Emilia, and Andrew. He is also survived by his brothers Bill, Bobby, and Barry Ard, and sisters Linda Hodge, Shelly Snodgrass, and Sherry Acker.

David's legacy is one of love, family, and generosity. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
