Obituary
TOPSFIELD - Mr. David H. Bagley 94, of Topsfield, beloved husband of the late Doris Elsie (Harvey) Bagley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at the Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates in Peabody.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Ernest and Azubah (Coops) Bagley. He was raised and educated in Worcester Prior to graduation David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country at the end of WWII, on the USS Atlanta on the Pacific fleet. During this time he received his High School equivalency diploma. He was discharged and then recalled during the Korean Conflict because he was in inactive reserve. He was subsequently granted a medical discharge
Following his discharge from the service, David returned home and met his beloved Elsie. They were married in 1952 and had three children. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and began a long and successful career in power plant operations. Beginning at General Electric in their Instrument Dept., moving on to Virginia Electric. Gaining experience in each position, he joined Stone & Webster Consulting Firm in Boston for several years where he was able to hone his skills and was often sought after for his expertise. David culminated his career at Northeast Controls in Mansfield, retiring after 14 years of service.
Dedicated to his family and faith, David was a loving husband for 58 yrs., father, and grandfather who was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted member of First Congregational Church in Hamilton where he was active in parish life. He found comfort in God during difficult times, especially his son Richard's sudden death and the death of his beloved Elsie. David was always grateful to God and his many friends who walked the path with him. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Instrument Society of America, and Alph Tau Omega Fraternity. David will be forever remembered in the hearts of his loving family as a devoted family man and Christian and will be deeply missed by them.
Surviving David is his son, James Bagley and his wife Katherine of Gloucester and his daughter, Janice Crane and her husband, Steven of Alexandria, NH his grandchildren, Nathaniel (wife, Alexis) Crane, Sarah (wife, Hannah) Cranbury and Nicholas Bagley, his great-grandchildren, Clive and Agatha Cranbury, and Lily Crane
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting hours will be held, prior to the service, from 10 to 11:30 A.M. Expressions of sympathy may be made in David's memory to the First Congregational Church of Hamilton, 630 Bay Rd., Hamilton, MA 01982.
