David Bruce Bales, 66, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, with entombment to follow at Walnut Ridge Mausoleum in Jeffersonville, IN. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
David was born on October 26, 1957 in Jeffersonville, IN, to the late John Bales and Joan Davis. A proud 1976 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, David went on to further his education, earning an Associate's Degree from Bellarmine College.
David was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor. His gentle spirit and kind nature touched everyone around him, especially his beloved family. Despite enduring numerous health challenges over the years, David remained a fighter, facing his illnesses with remarkable resilience and determination, never allowing them to dim his light. His resiliency was often credited to the strong bond he had with his daughter, Caroline, who stood by his side through every obstacle.
A devoted family man, David's greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren, who adored him. He cherished every moment with his loved ones, always ready with a warm smile and a caring word. He always enjoyed cooking for his family, and they enjoyed it even more. He loved listening to music daily, which was often a prelude to a heartfelt sing-along.
Professionally, David worked at the First National Bank in Louisville and later worked in Retail Sales. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of kindness, love for family, and strength will live on.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vicky Pruitt; and nephew, Andrew "Andy" Pruitt.
David is survived by his children, Caroline Bales (Larry) and Kyle Bales (Amanda); lifelong best friend, Debbie; grandchildren, Chandler, Cheyenne and Molly; sister, Carol Resch (Dave); brother, John Bales (Jeri); brother-in-law, Gerald Pruitt; grand dog, Dozier; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

I went through grades 1-12 with David. He was one of the nicest people I ever met. He only said kind things of others. He always made me smile or laugh. know he will be truly missed.
