David Barkell Obituary
Lake Linden: David James Barkell, 80, of Lake Linden, passed away at his home on April 2, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
David was born on April 18, 1944 in Pontiac, Michigan, a son of Gordon and Eleanor Barkell. He graduated from Berkley High School in Oakland, MI in 1962. He enlisted is the US Navy, serving in Vietnam. Locally, he worked for Quality Foods for 18 years and Michigan Tech, retiring after 20 years.
He married Ann Lamorand at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell in 1970.
David was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and an active member of American Legion Post 90 where he served in the Color Guard and as the Chaplain.
David enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores
He is survived by: his wife-Ann; 3 children-Charlotte (Rod Chapman) Barkell of Hubbell, Kelly (Mike) Curto of New London, WI, and Dan Barkell of Fremont, WI; 4 grandchildren-Alex (Nea) Barkell, Lauren Barkell (Seville), Quintin and Gavin Barkell; twin brother-Gordy (Linda); niece-Gail (Ed) Heskett; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. Spring burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
