"The purpose of life is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
David Barrera Jr. passed away February 24, 2023, at the age of 83, at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 22, 1939, in Pharr, Texas, to David and Rosa (Farias) Barrera.

He started his stamp collection as a teen and continued it throughout his life. He loved to watch western movies, baseball, and historical documentaries.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Estella M. Barrera; sister Diana Ranft (Tom); children Cindy Lopez (Leroy), Debbie Bennett, David O. Barrera (Nikki); grandchildren Audrey Brown (Christian), Christan Bennett, Chloe' Gomez (Gabriel Jr.), and Zachary Barrera; great-grandchildren Easton Gomez, Avery Brown, Finne Brown, Gabriella Gomez and Isabella Gomez.

Dunne Funeral Service - YORKTOWN Blvd. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with committal service and final military honors following at Seaside Memorial Park.
