David Ross Bethune, age 83, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Scottsdale, Arizona comforted by his loving wife Sylvia. David was born on August 11, 1940 in Fort Mill South Carolina to proud parents Jacob Allen and Mary Elliott and two older sisters, Susan and Frances. David grew up around Charlotte, North Carolina and attended West Mecklenburg High School where he would meet his future bride Sylvia Bolick. Once he graduated high school David went on to attend Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina earning a degree in Business Administration. After college David then went to Officer Candidate School (OCS) where he became a Naval Officer and served in the Navy for 5 years. Before shipping out he married his beautiful bride Sylvia Bolick on August 21, 1962. After his naval career David began his journey in the Pharmaceutical Industry and would eventually become the President and CEO of numerous pharmaceutical companies. David would spend his entire work career mastering the business world, mentoring others and making various contributions to the pharmaceutical industry, all while achieving much success on his path. On October 5, 1966 David and Sylvia would welcome their first child, David Ross, Jr. Five years later they would welcome their second child, Michelle Dawn on February 10, 1971. David and Sylvia were proud parents and worked very hard to give their family a wonderful life. Being an important executive came with many sacrifices from the family which included several moves throughout their journey, but they made the best of every situation and experience. When David wasn't working he enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding, travel, and spending time with family and friends. David is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia, daughter Michelle and grandson Jackson David. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 3 pm at 7753 East Whisper Rock Trail, Scottsdale, Arizona.
