David Biller Obituary
David Albert Biller, born on May 10, 1954, in East Stroudsburg, PA to Andrew and Pearl Biller, passed away at the age of 70 on April 15, 2025, in Wilmington, NC.
David spent his formative years in Mt. Bethel, PA, where he cultivated a lifelong love for sports and music. A passionate athlete from a young age, he grew up playing baseball and developed a deep appreciation for the Philadelphia Phillies. His enthusiasm for sports extended into adulthood as he played in numerous softball leagues, enjoyed watching football, college basketball, and soccer, and discovered a new passion for pickleball upon retirement. His commitment to the game led him to become an active member of the Cape Fear Pickleball Club.
In 1982, David moved to Wilmington, NC, where he embarked on a distinguished career spanning over three decades at Corning. Starting as a Manufacturing Associate, David's dedication and perseverance saw him rise to the role of Electrician after completing his Associate's Degree in Electrical from Cape Fear Community College in the early 2000s. His work was marked by diligence and a spirit of innovation that inspired those around him.
A true connoisseur of football and college basketball, David was an ardent fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Tar Heels. Known for his dynamic personality, he famously switched allegiance from Duke to UNC when Devon was accepted into UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008, marking the occasion with a symbolic hat change among his work friends-a testament to his loyalty and humor.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and athletic pursuits, David was cherished for his vibrant spirit and ability to bring joy and laughter anywhere he went. His fantasy football league, known as 'Yuengling Time,' was a highlight for him each season. Named after his favorite beer, Yuengling, he brought enthusiasm and camaraderie to the league and took it personally (in his jovial way) whenever a bar didn't have Yuengling on draft.
David is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Pearl Biller, and his brother-in-law Robert Rutt. He is survived by his daughter Devon Biller and daughter-in-law Brook Verburg, mother of Devon and former spouse Donna Biller, brother Wayne Biller, sister Brenda Rutt, nephew Rob Rutt, niece Jennifer Meyers, and many more extended family members and friends who loved and will miss him.
David's life was a rich tapestry of dedication, joy, and warmth. He will be remembered as a big kid at heart, whose presence uplifted those around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, leaving behind a trail of fond memories and inspiration.
