Mr. David Wayne Blackmon, Sr., 63, of Drake Road, Elberton, husband of Tammy Lynn Hall Blackmon, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his family, on Saturday evening, May 25, 2024, at his residence, following a five month battle with cancer. 

 

David was born in Elberton on March 11, 1961, son of the late Howard Blackmon, Jr. and Lexie Ann Rudder Blackmon. He worked for many years as a small engine mechanic before starting David’s Auto Glass. David loved go kart racing and participated in various races for many years. He will be remembered as a man of strong work ethic and for having a special love for his family.

 

Surviving, along with his wife Tammy, are his son and daughter-in-law, DJ and Jamie Blackmon; grandson, Starrett Blackmon, who was the apple of his Papa’s eye; siblings: Dino and Susan Blackmon and Denise and Casey Black; nieces and nephews: Levi, Jamie, and Layton Blackmon, Hunter and Erika Blackmon, Paige, Alex, and Rhett Oliver, Mia Blackmon and her expected baby Everett Burger, Kamryn Black, Khloe Black, and Gavin Black; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

 

He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Howard ‘Darrell’ Blackmon; and grandparents: LV and Frances Rudder and Howard and Ethel Blackmon.

 

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Tuesday evening, May 28, from 6:00-8:00p.m at Berry Funeral Home. 

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday morning, May 29, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Staples and Mr. Mickey Boggs officiating. 

 

Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Levi Blackmon, Casey Black, Gavin Black, Scotty Boggs, Steve Waters, Billy McDaniel, Terry Owens, Justin Turner, and Jerry McClain honored as pallbearers.

 

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in David’s memory to University Cancer and Blood Center, 320 Old Jefferson Road #700, Athens, GA 30607.
