Pastor David Wayne Board Sr., age 79, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on September 24, 2025.

David was born on August 27, 1946 in Evansville, Indiana to John and Helen (Cox) Board.

From a young age, music was a passion of David's, and he used his exceptional talent to serve in multiple churches throughout his life. His ministry touched the lives of many.

In 1966, David married Mary Patricia Purdue at Calvary Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana. From the beginning, they dedicated their lives to serving Jesus Christ. David graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA. He later earned his Doctorate in Theology. His education at Faith prepared him for a diverse ministry of music, preaching, and education. Throughout his career he taught Bible, Theology, and music from middle school through college levels. Upon completion of an internship with Dr. Paul Tassell at Grandview Park Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, he became an assistant pastor on the staff where he remained for 17 years.

Upon leaving Grandview Park Baptist, David became the minister of music at Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, followed by a minister of music at First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Michigan. After many years of being an assistant pastor, David answered the call to become the senior pastor at Bellepoint Baptist Church in Hinton, West Virginia. He and Mary retired due to his failing health and moved to Silva, MO.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Helen Board, his brother, John "Bill" Board, and his granddaughter, Amanda Wilber.

David is survived by his wife Mary, and their four children: David Board Jr. (Debbie), Anna Feller (Michael), Sarah Wilber (Gary), and Esther Carlson (David), thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and many loved ones.

There will be a viewing for David on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 1-2PM at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home at 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. The viewing will be followed by a memorial service for him at 2PM. Burial will be at Bondurant Cemetery, Bondurant, Iowa.
