David Ezekiel Bond Jr was a loving father, a devoted husband, a dedicated soldier, and a passionate individual who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
David was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1948, to David Bond Sr and Constance Anderson Bond. He grew up with his 3 sisters, Harriet Clark, Kathleen Roeser, and Deborah Bond. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1965.
In 1966, he made the selfless choice to serve our country and joined the Army. He served with pride in the 8th Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. Being a Paratrooper was a great source of pride for him. His dedication and commitment earned him the rank of Sergeant. Through his service, David exemplified the qualities of courage, and honor that would remain with him throughout his life.
After suffering a career debilitating injury in the Army, and an honorable discharge, a few years later, David embarked on a new path. He began his career at the Philadelphia Inquirer in 1969 and dedicated 16 years of his life to computer engineering. His work as a computer engineer demonstrated his inquisitive mind and his constant search for knowledge. Learning new skills and hobbies was by far his passion. His thirst for knowledge extended from gardening to astronomy.
In 1984, David's insatiable thirst for knowledge led him to Rets Technical School, where he studied computer programming. He embraced the challenges of the digital age, showcasing his adaptability and determination to learn.
However, beyond his professional accomplishments, David's true joy lay in his family. He adored his children, Kahn (Jennifer) Bond, Rayna (Marcelo) Todd, Aisha (Earvin) Faust, from his first wife Cecelia Bond and embraced his stepchildren, Toiya Brizill, Clifford Lewis, and Tonita (James) Poyser as his own. His love and devotion as a father and stepfather knew no bounds.
David's zest for life extended to his passion for travel, and he cherished the moments spent exploring new horizons with his family. He found joy in supporting his grandchildren in their extracurricular activities, whether it was lacrosse, football, or musical performances. His presence at these events was a source of strength and love for his family.
David spent over 41 years with his life partner and wife, Carolyne Pierce Bond. Their love was a true testament to the commitment they shared. Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with their grandchildren.
David Ezekiel Bond Jr. left us on October 11, 2023, but his memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. His legacy of dedication, love, and unwavering support will live on through his family, his friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
David is survived by 6 children 11 grandchildren and 3 sisters
