David passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025 after an unexpected illness.

Viewing will be Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Smith Mortuary in Derby, KS. Rosary will be at 9:30 am, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 with Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover, KS. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

David was born on December 9, 1968 in Wichita KS to Leonard and Freida (Fowler) Bornhoft. He was welcomed home by two older sisters, Wanda and Tinea. He was baptized in St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover, KS. He was raised in Rose Hill, KS and graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1988. He was a food server at the Boeing Cafeteria and Andover School system and stocked shelves at Apple Market. David enjoyed traveling with his parents to visit family, taking long road trips to Colorado and Arizona. He excelled at bowling, even having the opportunity to play with professional bowlers. He enjoyed watching movies and playing with his electronics. He was a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos and celebrated all of their wins—especially against the Chiefs. David was a member of the Rose Hill Senior Center where he liked to play cards and bingo. He remained an active member of the congregation of St Vincent de Paul.

David will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, nephew and uncle.

David was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Freida Bornhoft; his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his father, Leonard Bornhoft; sisters Wanda (Tim) Voss of Edmond, OK and Tinea (Dick) Showalter of Rose Hill; nephew Sawyer Voss; nieces Emily (Blake) John, Ella (Chase) Moore, Nicole (Charles) Showalter, Abby Showalter, and Mackenzie (Alex) Gustafson; seven great-nieces and nephews; and other surviving aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with St. Vincent de Paul Church, 123 N. Andover Rd, Andover, KS 67002 and the Rose Hill Senior Center, 217 E. Silknitter St, Rose Hill, KS. 67133.
