David Bottoms, 59, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Saturday, August 24,2024. He was born on April 27, 1965, in Louisville to Ralph and Sheila (Ilari) Bottoms. He graduated from Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, KY.
David was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. family meant the world to him, and he cherished the youngest members of his family. He had a passion for sports, proudly supporting the Louisville Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and enjoyed activities such as wrestling, bowling, and basketball. He also loved horse racing, favoring the #5 horse. Music, car rides, and video games were among his favorite pastimes. David was an Olympian in the Special Olympics, excelling in bowling and track, and he always lit up the room with his infectious smile and unique laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
David is preceded in death by his father, Ralph D. Bottoms. He is survived by his loving mother, Sheila (Robert) Cason; siblings, Debbie (Art) Bryant, Gail (Robert) Casamer, Danny Bottoms, Lisa (Joe) Richter, Ricky (Olivia) Bottoms, Donnie Bottoms, and Robbie (Lynn) Cason; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will treasure his memory.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dionte (Emily) Hickman, David's caregiver, and Andrea Johnson from My Care for their dedicated support and care.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM at the same location.
In honor of David’s memory, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Harbor House, Donate Life, and/or the Mental Health Association.
