An avid Celtics fan, loved all sports, and being by the ocean
David Bowman, Jr. passed away suddenly at home on April 8, 2025, at the age of 72. Dave (DJ) was born in Chelsea, MA on July 28, 1952, to the late David Bowman, Sr. and the late Dorothy Bowman. He is survived by his devoted wife Sophia Bowman of 38 years, his brother Peter Bowman and his wife Cynthia Bowman and his niece Olivia Bowman, his sister Marilyn Bowman and her husband Thomas Lawless, and his proud twins Gregory Bowman and Rebecca Bowman.
David and Sophia met in 1980 and married in 1986. They enjoyed vacationing in Martha's Vineyard and Bar Harbor, ME. David graduated from Melrose High School in 1970 and attended Northeastern University and Merrimack College. He had a long career in Engineering at Verizon. He was described by all as a kind, generous, hardworking, funny person and someone you can always rely on.
His love of sports was unmatched when it came to watching his favorite Boston teams and discussing in detail with his friends and family. David never missed one of his kids' games and enjoyed watching Gregory at his high school cross country meets and Rebecca playing basketball throughout high school and college. David will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the Boston Children's Hospital.
