David Ellsworth Brammell, 93, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at his home. David was born February 12, 1931 at McLouth, KS, the son of Ira Noah Harvey and Freda Elizabeth Edmonds Brammell. He was a 1949 graduate of McLouth High School and attended McPherson College before serving in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He then graduated from Kansas State University, earning a B.S. degree in Agriculture in 1956. He later attended University of Missouri at Kansas City and graduated in 1970 with a B.S. degree in Pharmacology. David served as a Pharmacist and Purchasing Director at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza before retiring in 1993 after 23 years of Service.
He was a member of the former Central United Methodist Church of Brookside, now Resurrection at Brookside Methodist Church. A lifelong lover of history, his freetime was often spent reading and learning about the past. He particularly enjoyed the Jefferson County Historical Society in Oskaloosa, KS, with its connection to his family's history in the area.
He was married to Lorna Gene Plummer on June 10, 1955 at Perry, KS, she preceded him in death on June 5, 2021. He is survived by a daughter, Lorna L. "Lori" Brammell, Vail, AZ, three grandchildren, Rory S. Brammell, Perry, KS, Lucas Eugene Brammell, Leavenworth, KS, Meagan Brammell, Kansas City, MO, two great-grandchildren, Deanna Marie Lopes and Braden Kent Brammell. He was preceded in death by a son, David "Kent" Brammell.
A Grave Side Memorial Inurnment will be 3:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2025 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry, KS. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Resurrection at Brookside United Methodist Church. Memorials suggested to Jefferson County Historical Society in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
