David N. Brickey, 75, of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on April 25, 1949 in Norton, VA to the late Thomas and Joy (Dykes) Brickey.  On April 21, 1979, he married the former Mary Ella Cobb at the former Bell Center Church in Monticello and she survives.

He was a 1967 graduate Twin Lakes High School and then served in the Army for two years.  He worked as a robotic welder for the former TRW in Lafayette.  David was an outdoors-man and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He loved his family and liked to take them on camping trips.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He attended Grace Community Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ella Brickey of Monticello; five children, David Nick (Jeanne) Brickey Jr. of Lafayette, Darryl Evan Brickey of Lafayette, Levera (Kristen) Gross of Monticello, Rodney Allen Johns of Monticello, Richard Lucas Johns of FL; grandchildren, Evan Brickey, Hunter Johns, Melissa Johns, Justin Johns, Jason Johns, Trisden Gross, Gavin Gross, Braden Johns Baylee Johns, and Braxton Johns; and brother-in-law, Donald Dye.

He was also preceded in death by his sons, Richard Alan Brickey and David Lee Johns; and a grandson, Adam Brickey .

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of services at 2:00 pm Friday, May 10, 2024 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.  Pastor John DeKruyter of Grace Community Baptist Church will officiate.
