Houlton/Monticello - David W Britton, 79 of Houlton and Monticello passed away peacefully at his home on May 7th after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in ` Houlton on March 22,1946 to Warren and Clara (Hersey)Britton. David was born into a farming family and enjoyed the farm life with his Dad and brother Robert for many years. Not quite ready to leave it behind, he began a career of buying and selling potato stock for Redball Potato Company and Eastern Potato Dealers. In the 80's, David went into the trucking industry and was co-owner of Double D Trucking. He went on to operate Scamp's Express (named for his pup) and would say Scamp is the boss I just work for him! David retired in 2015 after 31 years in the trucking business where he was happy he could finally get a full nights sleep! He is survived by his life partner of 26 years, Wanda Scott and her sons Michael (Tennille) Scott and Marc (Kathryn) Scott of Houlton, one brother Robert(Judi) Britton of Houlton, three daughters Tammi Britton of Ludlow, Wendi Britton (Brian McKissick)of Orient, and Marcie (Brian) Dean of Skowhegan, one son Allen of Florida, several grandchildren and great grandchildren one great great grandchild, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Merle and three sisters, Roberta Moran, Margaret Duffy and Gail Wallace and a special nephew Russell Britton. David will be fondly remembered for his contagious laugh and sense of humor but mostly for his generosity. In keeping with his passion he would like (in lieu if flowers please donate to the Bridge to Hope, 300 Foxcroft Rd, Houlton, Maine. Services will be held on Wednesday at the Wesleyan Church, Kelleran St, Houlton, Maine with calling hours at 2pm and Funeral at 3pm with Paster Wayne Robertson officiating.
