David Jackson Brown was born July 31, 1940 to Robert 'Bob' and Willie Alene Howell Brown.
David loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time roaming pastures and creek bottoms of their ranch on the South San Gabriel River. While at the age of 18 years, dad met the love of his life who was 17 at the time while on a double date. They were each with another person. Dad took one look at mom and said to himself "I am going to marry her", and told that to her. They dated for about a year. Dad asked mom's dad if he could marry his daughter. Papa said "do you think you can take care of her?" Dad said "If I can't, I'll bring her back".
David worked various jobs in Georgetown. As a teenager, he worked at 3 Way Grain. Before he started in the Georgetown PD in 1968, he worked as a dispatcher which was located in the old water department in Georgetown.
As a young boy, it was David's dream to be a lawman. In 1968, he was hired by Georgetown PD as a patrol officer. David took great pride in his job. In 1974, he was hired by the Williamson County Sherriff's Department under August Bosshard. Dad had a hand in mentoring quite a few young men as they entered into the law enforcement profession. A few of those men are here today. Two of those young men are current Williamson County Sherriff, Matt Lindemann, and his chief deputy Randy Traylor.
David and Alene built their life in Georgetown and enjoyed raising their two sons, Brad and Steve. On February 9, 1994, David retired after working his way from Deputy, to Sergeant, to Lieutenant (first in Wilco history), to Captain. David and Alene spent the rest of their days on Hat Creek Ranch, named after their favorite movie "Lonesome Dove". Their days were spent sitting either on the back porch or in the sunroom. The birds and squirrels would come and eat seed they had put out, or were bathing in the birdbaths that were in the yard. They also enjoyed watching the deer and cows graze just outside their fence as well as the occasional roadrunner that would pass by.
When Alene went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2024, David missed her dearly and longed to be with his bride forever in Heaven praising Jesus for all He has done. They made many memories at Hat Creek Ranch with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren celebrating with Easter egg hunts, camp fires with friends, birthday parties, and many Christmases listening to Michael Martin Murphey while dancing around the Christmas tree. David loved listening to country music, with George Strait and Carrie Underwood being his favorites.
Because of all the love and devotion of their family, both David and Alene were able to be in their home until the Lord called them home.
David is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Alene Haydon Brown, his Daddy, Bob Brown and Momma, Alene Brown.
David is survived by his devoted and loving sons James Bradley (Connie), and Steve (Jennifer); grandchildren, Haley Brown, Jessica Dell'Ora (Erick), Justin Brown, Cody Brown (Amy), Jenna Perkins (Brandon), Joshua Brown, and Jake Brown; great Grandchildren, Dominic & Adeline Perkins, Emelia, Guinevere, and Dahlia Dell'Ora; his precious sister, Evelyn Brown (Joe), and his amazing prayer warriors, also known as the Haydons.
