On October 31, 2023, David Lucian Browning Jr., 86, passed away peacefully in Roswell, Georgia. He was born on May 31, 1937 in Kenova, West Virginia to David “Sims” L. Browning Sr. and Ruth Byard.

 

David is survived by his wife Gloria Jean Browning; daughters Heather Cooper (husband Bert) and Wendy Dickinson (husband Rob); brother Preston Browning; grandchildren Ryan Lewis, Ben Dickinson and Zach Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents Sims Browning and Ruth Byard; brother John Thomas Browning; granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Shamburger and daughter Melanie Lewis.

 

David had a long and fulfilling life. He was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force. After his service, he went on to become the Regional Sales Manager for BellSouth Advertising & Publishing. David was most proud of his extensive golf tournament wins. He grew up playing golf practically every day. His father taught him how to play golf at the age of 11. David was most proud of the year his high school golf team (Chapmanville High School) won the state championship in 1955. He served twelve years on the Board of Trustees for Atlanta Junior Golf. David was also a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia.

 

He will be interred at the National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
