Of Ararat, PA
David L. Burman, 77 of Ararat Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday evening January 4th, 2025 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna Pennsylvania after an extended illness.
David Lee Burman was born at home in Ararat Township on May 7, 1947 to Reed H. and Harriet (Cook) Burman. He was raised on the family dairy farm and was active in 4H and the Gibson Grange. He worked several seasons at Elk Mountain Ski Center. David was a 1965 graduate of Susquehanna Community High School. Upon graduation, he worked briefly at Fancher Supply and IBM in Broom County, NY until he followed his elder brother, Gerald's example and voluntary enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 22nd, 1966. The night prior to deploying to an assignment in Vietnam his orders were abruptly changed, reassigning him to Tactical Command on a support base in Taiwan.
David married his wife of 58 years, Dianne L. (Hutchins) Burman on October 15, 1966.
After his Honorable Discharge from military service, they returned to Ararat Township and established residency on the Burman Century Farm Homestead.

He engaged in several other business ventures, including, but not limited to co-ownership of Burman Maple Products, producers of pure maple syrup products and distributors of maple syrup, supplies, and equipment with his father Reed.
David was an active member in his community and a proud supporter of the Republican Party in Susquehanna County. He was a member of the American Legion, Legion Riders Motorcycle Club and enjoyed Thursday night wings and shuffleboard at the Moose Lodge. He was known for his quick wit and sometimes sarcastic sense of humor. David was fortunate to have many friends from Susquehanna County to his winter residence in Florida and beyond. He enjoyed his Harley Davidsons, his golf cart, his antique John Deere tractors, hunting and finding treasures at area auctions. David loved working on the same land as several generations of his family had done before him until he proudly passed it on to his son, Jeffrey to continue the Burman family legacy.
