David Alan Bush

Bush, David A. of Edina, MN and Belleair, FL passed away July 1, 2021 at the age of 72. Preceded in death by wife Margaret G. Bush; parents, Edwin and Evelyn Bush; and granddaughter Layla Bush. He is survived by daughter Jennifer (Ben) Woolsey of Bloomington, MN; son Michael (Courtney) Bush, grandchildren Olivia and Logan Bush of Edina, MN; and Johanna Chapman of Edina, MN. Dave grew up in Minneapolis. In high school, he excelled in basketball and football at The Blake School. He played football for Ripon College in Ripon, WI but after one year his football career ended due to injury. He then worked at several Mr. Steak restaurants that his father owned. He moved to Edina in 1977 and was an active member of the Edina Hornet football staff for 41 years. He was an officer on the Edina Police Department from 1969-1980 and after retiring from law enforcement, had a very successful career in sales. Dave was caring, generous, welcoming, a man of integrity, and had a heart of gold. In 1998, his beloved wife of 26 years, Maggie, was taken much too soon after a short battle with cancer, and he missed her every day. He deeply loved his children and always made sure they were taken care of. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he frequently called himself "a proud Grampy." He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, especially his dog Bailey, and he was never far away from a crossword puzzle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Service Wednesday July 14, 10am, at Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Mpls. Reception to follow at Minnesota Valley Country Club.
