David Louis Byrom

David Louis Byrom was born December 1, 1946 in Taylor Texas. He was 78 years old and a resident of Houston for the past 55 plus years. David passed away at his home in the North Shore area, in his favorite recliner while doing his favorite thing, watching sports on TV. On this particular day, it was the Astros game, while earlier in the day, offering his oft critical commentary, on the Houston Texans. David grew up in Taylor, went to West End Elementary and Taylor High School, attended Temple Junior College and the University of Texas at Austin. He was an avid sports fan… football, baseball, basketball, hunting, fishing, even golf because of his alumni Scottie Scheffler. He absolutely loved the University of Texas Longhorns and most likely will be looking in on Arch Manning this season. He acquired his love of sports and the outdoors from his Dad, who taught him to fish and hunt, which he passed down to his son and grandsons. David developed his work ethic from as Dad who instilled in him strong independence, pride of your word and efforts, and loyalty in oneself. He strived to always do his best at any level in any event. He started working in high school at the local Safeway grocery store. He worked his way up from grocery sacker to produce manager while a high schooler. After high school he moved on to the City of Austin Utility Department as a lineman and after college, he made the move to Houston and started work at Stewart and Stevenson. In the 25 years there, he learned all aspects of power generation building and operating power turbine systems. When Stewart and Stevenson was acquired by General Electric, the next 24 years he worked at the logistics of moving them to sites to power up everything from job sites to small cities. He traveled all over the world moving generators and turbines and met people from all walks of life, while keeping the same core group of friends His entire life. David is preceded in death by his parents, David Leslie and Majorie Ann Byrom, his brother, Billy Leslie Byrom and in-laws, Leonard and Alicia Maldonado. He is survived by his wife, Edna Byrom, son, Barry, daughters, Amy and Paige, sister Cindy Bohls and her husband Rick Bohls, in-laws, Naide Honeycutt, Leonard Maldonado Jr, Leo and Lucy Maldonado, Diana Bettes, Arnold and Constance Maldonado, Chris Maldonado, Sonia and Eric Foger, grandsons, Houston, Hunter and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will hold a Visitation at San Jacinto Funeral Home, 14659 East Freeway, Houston TX 77015, on September 3, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will take place at San Jacinto Funeral Home, at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 4, 2025. Interment will be in Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor Texas on September 5, 2025 at 1:30 pm.
