Born July 23, 1948, in Quincy, IL, to Harold and Veda Campbell. He married Caroline Crim on November 26, 1977, in Quincy.

David is survived by his loving wife, Caroline, and his children Jennifer, David, and Jim (Nita), and his grandchildren Alexander, Oliver, and Max.

He graduated from Quincy Senior High School (Quincy) in 1966 and Illinois State University in 1980 with a B.A. in Business Administration. David served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971, serving a tour in Vietnam.

David was a member of Empire Lodge 126 A.F. & A.M., where he served as Master and was the secretary for 34 years. He also served on the TCRC Board as a parent representative. He was a life member of the Scottish Rite, American Legion, and the V.F.W.

David worked part-time for the Pekin Park District and was active with IRVSRA, where he served as a Special Olympics coach of softball, basketball, and bowling. He greatly enjoyed working with the participants.

He was very active in 4H early in life. Riding and showing his horses earned him many medals and trophies. He later became a 4-H leader for horsemanship. David’s father taught him how to be a carpenter, and he used those skills as he owned and managed Campbell Home Apartments for 40+ years. David was also a real estate agent for a few years.

He was very proud that he was a “Mr. Mom” to his three children. He loved taking care of them and teaching them life skills along the way. David loved living in the country, where he could ride his tractors and take care of the yard and garden.
