David Cantu Jr. was born on March 1, 1973, in Visalia, California, and passed away on June 8, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.
David was the kind of person whose energy lit up any room. He had a deep love for his family, and some of his favorite things in life were playing lotería, trying his luck on the slot machines, and dancing cumbias like no one was watching. He especially loved singing along to Vicente Fernández-his voice full of heart, always bringing emotion to every lyric. His favorite color was purple, and just like that color, he carried a quiet strength, warmth, and vibrance that made people feel at ease around him.
Anyone who had the opportunity to meet David would say he was a great man-kind, humble, and always putting others before himself. He had a heart for helping people and never hesitated to show up when someone needed him. That's just who he was.
David is survived by his father, David Cantu Sr., and his mother, Oralia Cantu; his wife, Olga Cantu; his sister, Sarah Rodriguez; his brother, Jesus Cantu; his son, David Cantu III; and his stepchildren, Nikky and Bridget. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Julian and Elena Perez. He is preceded in death by his stepson, Rafael Tapia, whom he loved dearly.
David's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the stories shared, the music played, and the love he gave so generously to everyone around him.
