David C. Carpenter passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023 at the age of 85 at his home in San Antonio, TX.
David was born in Brownwood, TX on Dec. 1, 1937. He joined the Air Force Dec. 1954 and was honorably discharged in Dec.1962. The Air Force taught him electronics and that would take him around the world to repair defense radars on naval ships and numerous US military bases. Besides working on Naval radar systems, he also updated FAA radars around the USA. David was one of the first to install the automated sorting machines at our US Post Offices. In 2004 he retired from Northrop Grumman with 33 years of service.
David is survived by his wife Lynda Ferguson Carpenter of 56 years. They were married in Huntington Beach, CA. He is also survived by his children: Carole Carpenter Kane and husband Joe: David O. Carpenter, Alba Metzger and grandson Hunter Carpenter; sisters Loretta V. Carpenter Conrad, Elizabeth C. Carpenter Smith and brother Robert Coursey; brother-in-law Joe Smith and husband Thad Robertson. And numerous nephews, nieces & cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 8, 2023 in San Antonio, TX. Time & place to be determined at a later date.
