David Roger Carrier, 88, of Fort Mill, SC, went home to be with Jesus, his Savior, on December 28, 2025, with his wife and children by his side.
David was born on July 31, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Roberta Carrier.
David grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1955. He then went to the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.
David served honorably for over 21 years, including time in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. He retired in 1980 as a Lt. Colonel.
David married Gladys Jenkins on September 9, 1967 in. Newburgh, NY. They were married for 58 years and had 3 children, Douglas, Roger, and Amy, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
David came to faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and followed Him steadfastly throughout his life.
After his Army career, David chose a career of service in Christian school administration and teaching math. He retired from academics in 2000. He and his wife Gladys enjoyed time babysitting for and loving on their grandchildren.
He also loved old musicals and doing puzzles.
Over the years, David served in his local church in different capacities. He was an elder for many years, a Gideon and a Bible study leader in his church in NY. After his move to SC in 2006, he became a faithful weekly volunteer for over 14 years at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC.
Remaining to cherish David's memory are his wife, Gladys; his children, Douglas and Bianca Carrier, Roger and Gina Carrier, and Amy and Leif Thronsen; grand children Emma and Sawyer Rewis, Gabriella and Chris Dabbs, Luke and Joel Thronsen, Christian Carrier, and Gianna, David, and Jonah Carrier, plus 2 great grandchildren, Easton and Ellianna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Carrier, and sister Betty Goudie.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church Fort Mill with a service to follow with Pastor Matthew Boyle officiating. Internment, with Military Honors, will be at Magnolia Memorial Gardens at Calvary Church, Charlotte, NC
Memorial donations in David's memory may be made to the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC.
