Funeral Service for David Lester Chandler, 70 of Gadsden, will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Glencoe Hokes Bluff Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Hagan officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until time of the service.
Mr. Chandler passed away, Saturday, March 22, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Cora Lee, his sister-in-law, Debbie Griffith and his brother-in-law, Eddie Griffith
Left to cherish the memory of Mr. Chandler, is his loving wife of 51 years, Sherry Chandler, his children Todd Chandler (Emilee) and Stacie Causey (Jason), his eight grandchildren, Julie Chandler, Hylan Snow (Sage), Kaylee Higdon, Andrew Chandler, Kyle Chandler, Maddie Kate Chandler, and Hannah and Harrison Chandler. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Chandler (Clare), his sister-in-law, Janice Owens (Joel) and a host of nieces and nephews.
David Chandler was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and pastor, who will be greatly missed. He was born to Willard and Cora Lee Chandler on April 29, 1954. He graduated from Gadsden City High School in 1972. He married his wife Sherry in 1974 and they have been married for 51 years. Together they have two children and eight grandchildren. In 2004, David received a Doctorate of Theology from Covington Theological Seminary. He served as pastor at Bethany Baptist Church, Baker's Chapel Baptist Church and he pastored and retired from North Gadsden Baptist Church.
Throughout his life, David pastored with honor and devotion to the call to ministry placed on his life.
The family would like to personally thank Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Grandview Medical Center, Encompass Health Rehabilitation, Northside Rehabilitation, Amedisys Home Health and the numerous nurses, doctors and specialist that worked with and support David and his family.
Pallbearers for the service include Joel Owens, Mark Thrift, Tim Farlow, Josh Sullivan. Todd Chandler, Jason Causey, Sage Snow, Andrew Chandler and Kyle Chandler.
Honorary pallbearers include Harrison Chandler and the deacons from the churches he pastored.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Etowah Baptist Association.
