David Cherwin, beloved husband, father, and "little kahuna," passed away on Sunday, October 13. He was riding his motorcycle through the Sonoran Desert, where he was looking forward to starting a new chapter with his wife Cindy among the javelinas, mountain lions, and pickleball courts.
David worked tirelessly to provide for Cindy and their children Tamara and Eric. He planned his career and finances to provide opportunities for his children that he never had; he encouraged them to follow their passions and gave them the means to do so.
David found peace soaking in the sun or a view, often with a cigar and drink in hand. A consummate short-order cook, he would eagerly jump from his own cozy spot to fix a drink or meal for Cindy and the kids. Never one for silence, he filled our home with music, jokes and overly-loud discussions.
David devoted himself to charity work the moment he retired. After a couple of years delivering meals to sick and elderly patients, David started volunteering at The Animal Pad (TAP), an animal rescue organization. This work gave him joy and filled our family's phones with video after video of "the best, sweetest dog ever" – i.e., whichever dog he was caring for that day. David recently brought home our new dog Bear from TAP, who slept beside him every night and who brings us comfort as we mourn.
David (Dad), we miss you so much.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to TAP (https://theanimalpad.org/) so we can continue to care for the dogs and volunteers that brought him joy.

Dave and I worked together at US Leasing. Judi Jenks was our manager and we were all very close friends. It wasn't a regional sales group, it was a family. He was a joy to be around and always had a story that was hilarious! He would come to my cubicle and say: "do you have a minute, 'cause ya gotta hear this one". He was extremely street-wise 'and' smart, a rare combination! He was caring, helpful and endearing! Dave would find a solution or research a problem you might have without you ever soliciting his help. One time I said: "Dave, how did you figure that out so quickly?" and he replied: "I guess I just have an incredible grasp of the obvious". Cindy and family, I hope you find comfort as time passes and believe that even though life doesn't continue, love does!

I met Dave at US Leasing where we both worked together in the company´s San Francisco office. We remained in contact over the years and made a point of getting together for lunch when Dave traveled to the Bay Area to visit his family or when I was in Southern California on business.
Dave was very special. I so enjoyed his incredible storytelling, his unique perspective on life and his amazing sense of humor. I am so saddened by Dave´s loss and I will truly miss him, Steve Wheeler

David was my first hire as Sales Manager at US Leasing. I interviewed him over dinner attempting to lure him away from Amplicon. Success! He was so loved by the entire sales team for his humor and willingness to help others. I never forgot his birthday as it was a day before mine and day after Steve Small. For over 25 years they both received my annual birthday cards which followed by a call from each of them. We were all so blessed to know David and this was such a tragic loss. RIP in David. Love, Judi Jenks
