David fulfilled his life's goals by spending four years working in Christian education while teaching and serving as principal. He retired from the Decatur Police
Department. He also worked in the aviation industry as part of the Ground Personnel Crew with Express Jet in Huntsville, AL. He was able to share his faith in the pulpit by preaching and teaching the Bible. His life centered around God and his family.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cindy Schwartz Childers, daughter, Sharon Bailey (Christopher) of Idaho Springs, CO, son, Daniel Childers of Hartselle, and sister-in-law, Melody Childers of Plantation, FL.

David's favorite scripture passage as his life verse is Job 13:15 - "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him: but I will maintain mine own ways before Him."

Service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hartselle, AL. (Time to be determined.)
