I am sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I knew him as a dedicated and inspirational teacher when I was a Cadet. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Dave Cloud as a USAFA "Doolie" in the 23rd Cadet Squadron (CS-23). So sorry to hear he passed away this year (2024). He was a great "Doolie" with me in 1972. RIP, Dave!

I met Dave's in my first AF assignment at Holloman AFB NM 1978-80. Dave was a 1st Lieutenant and an expert engineer. Dave would take the data we collected in flight test missions on many types of aircraft. He'd meet us as we taxi-in and we hand him a tape and our log sheets. Like a kid at Christmas, Dave would dash off an analyze the data. He'd give us a report back, and we'd change the flight plan and fly again. He helped us get the best test data possible. A few times we brought Dave along on C-130 missions, his smile never disappeared as we droned along. Everyone loved watching him take notes and punch in some numbers on his calculator. I went on to serve with Dave as teachers in the USAFA Astro Department in the mid 80's. As a contractor at Schriever, I'd often describe things I needed to calculate during a space mission, he'd make me a tool to do that. Dave was relentless at using his brilliance to help astro geeks excel. My last visit with Dave was in 2019 when I spoke with Dave and his fellow memory care friends about the Palmer Lake Star you could see the star from where he lived. I remember his kind eyes were on me the whole time. I saw into his heart. I know from Heaven Dave will look upon the star when it shines and smile. God bless you Barb and family. Jack & Margo Anthony
