Mr. David "Red" Conkle; 77 of Barnesville, Ga; passed away on October 1, 2025 at Eternal Hope Hospice House surrounded by his loving family and the amazing staff. Mr. Conkle is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Littlejohn and Ruth Conkle Littlejohn, as well as his little brother Buck Littlejohn, and best friend Tommy "Pop" Thomas. Mr. Conkle grew up in Milner, Ga before joining the army at just 18 years old. He served our country in Vietnam. After leaving the military he drove trucks for a living. For many years he was the milk man in the local area, before going to allied and hauling cars. When things changed hands there, he took an early retirement but wasn't ready to give up the trucking life just yet and decided to purchase his own truck and go into business for himself. This is when "barney" was born, his well-known purple and yellow car hauler. He lived the next 20 years of his life in that truck, covering all of the 48 contiguous states. After saying goodbye to barney though he started the job that he has loved most all and that was being Great Pawpaw. That is what has kept him going these last few years. There was nothing he loved more! He was survived by his daughter, Dayna Porterfield and David; son, Brett Martin and Joy; grandchildren, Noel Duffee, Christin Ray, B.J. Livingston, Tyler Lloyd; great-grandchildren, Addelynn, Will, Messiah, James, Sophia, Madison, Blakely, Teagen, Dannie Lynne; special friends, Debroah "DD" Thomas, and Bernice. Funeral services for Mr. David "Red" Conkle will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. For online condolences please visit www.haistenmcculloughfuneralhome.com.
